NADEC organized an educational workshop for visitors and guests of the King Abdulaziz Camel Festival, held at the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture’s pavilion.

The workshop aimed to raise awareness among specialists and consumers about how to read food labels, understand their details, track calorie content, and avoid allergens.

During the session, the importance of clearly stating any special storage conditions on product labels was emphasized, especially when shelf life depends on such conditions. Additionally, the workshop outlined the storage periods and conditions for products that consumers may keep after their expiration date.

Furthermore, the workshop noted that additional stickers for production and expiration dates are allowed, provided there is no more than one production or expiration date per package, and that these dates must not be altered, erased or tampered with.

Al-Saeed also highlighted the importance of including vitamins and minerals in forms that are bioavailable to the human body.

Regarding allergens, the workshop explained that pictures and special bold or underlined fonts can be used to indicate their presence in food products. Regarding food additives,

E numbers should be declared by words or numbers to simplify the meaning of these additives.

It is worth noting that this workshop is part of NADEC’s ongoing efforts in corporate social responsibility and nutritional awareness. Through various initiatives and programs, NADEC continues to promote a culture of healthy eating, empowering consumers to make informed choices that improve their quality of life and health, while also supporting the goals of Vision 2030.
